Nibbles was no ordinary rat. He was a smart, curious pet who lived with 10 year-old Emma in a cozy house full of books, toys, and adventures.

Most people didn’t think rats could be heroes. But one night, Nibbles proved them all wrong.

A Nose for Trouble

Nibbles loved to explore. He scurried through tunnels Emma made from boxes, climbed bookshelves, and sniffed every corner of the house. His favorite game was “Find the Cracker,” where Emma hid snacks in secret spots. One evening, Nibbles was playing in the living room when he stopped near the wall by the TV. His nose twitched. Something smelled strange, like burning plastic.

Emma noticed him pawing at the wall. “What is it, Nibbles?” she asked, but he just scratched and sniffed harder. Emma called her dad to take a look. At first, he thought it was nothing, but then he felt the wall. It was warm.

The Littlest Firefighter

The electrician who came the next day said the wiring had likely been damaged for weeks. “Most people wouldn’t notice until it was too late,” he said. “You’re lucky your rat is so clever!”

Emma’s parents were amazed. They gave Nibbles his favourite treat, a tiny piece of banana and scratched his furry head. “You’re our little firefighter,” Emma giggled.

News of Nibbles’ big save spread quickly. Emma’s school shared the story, and even the local newspaper printed a picture of Nibbles with the headline:“Pet Rat Prevents House Fire!”
